Darron Butler 1980-82 First of all, let me share my appreciation for all those who organized the 40 th reunion of our service in Bolivia. What a great event! Reflecting on the mission, one vivid memory was serving as an interim Branch President in the town of Villa Adela on the Altiplano as a result of my senior companion, Elder Hansen, coming down with yellow jaundice. I was only a month or so into the mission and remember feeling overwhelmed to be in this inevitable position. Obviously, being the only Melchezidek Priesthood holders in the branch ncessitated the elders assuming this role. Thanks to Elder Hansen for his guidance. Elder Kirk and myself tracting out Hermano Potsi in Villa San Antonio.was another great experience in following the influence of The Spirit. We taught Hermano Potsi and baptized him. I would hear later that Hermano Potsi served in the Elder's Quorum Presidency, though I wasn't able to confirm this. If anyone who served in Villa San Antonio has any information on this I would like to know.. Pres. Hill mentioned being "Survivors" of the mission. Never was this more evident than during The Revolution. This wss a difficult time which not only halted the work for a time but also resulted in various curfews, also interrupting the work. I understood later there were a few missionaries who were in precatrious positions-a few even assaulted during this tumultuous time. I grew to love the Bolivian people and admired their humility... I greatly appreciated those with whom I served. Sure we didn't see eye to eye always but from each companionship I learned patience and humility. Thank to Pres. and Sister Hill for their guidance, their love, and support of all their missiona Curt Whittaker Melinda Andrus Jaggi Print
